Professor Wu, born in 1946 in Hubei Province. He graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1969 and earned the master degree from Wuhan University in 1981, majoring in Space-Physics. Now he is the advisor for doctoral students in Radio Physics and Optics as well as the director in the School of Science of Xidian University.

Moreover, Professor Wu has been appointed headship by many organizations home and abroad, including:

    the fellow of Chinese Institute of Electronis,
    the member of national Target and Propagation Characteristics Experts Committee,
    the member of Ministry of Electronics Industry Electronics Science Institute Target Characteristics Experts Committee,
    the senior member of Chinese Institute of Electronics,
    the Vice-chairmen of Chinese Institute of Radio Propagation,
    the member of Committee of Instructing the Teaching of Physics Fundamental Courses in the Education
    the member of New York Academy of Sciences,
    the senior member of IEEE.

Besides, Professor Wu successively served as the committeeman of the eighth Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Shaanxi Province, the committeeman of the tenth CPPCC in Xi’an city, the vice-president of seventh CPPCC in Yanta borough of Xi’an, as well as the counselor in the Govement of Shaanxi Province.
　

Since the early 1980’s, Professor Wu has been devoted to establish a high-tech academic team and light scattering lab in the field of light scattering under tough conditions. He pursues his students strictly, and his study covers many areas including wave scattering and propagation in random media and the complex structure, photoelectric characteristics of the materials, digital signals processing, analyses of particle sizing, and nonlinear physics, etc.

In the recent decade, he has been in charge of and undertaken more than thirty projects allocated by national ministries and commissions. Since 1987, he has published more than 300 papers in magazines home and abroad, among which more than 100 papers were embodied in the SCI Index or EI Index. Most of the theory achievements have been popularized and applied by scholars extensively.

Along with his research work, Professor Wu undertakes many courses of doctor students, master students and undergraduate students, for example, University physics, Electrodynamics, Electromagnetic field and waves, Wave propagation and scattering in random medium, Numerical calculation for wave propagation and scattering, Wave principle in plasma. Professor Wu devote himself to the subject establishment and advocates reforms in research and teaching. Especially, he attaches importance to the cultivation and promotion of the youth teacher, all of which achieved splendid results.
